MUMBAI – JK Cement Ltd. Saturday reported a sharp decline in its bottom line for the second consecutive quarter in the March quarter on account of a significant rise in expenses and the slowest revenue growth in five quarters.

For the March quarter, the company posted a net profit of INR 3.45 billion, down nearly 17% year-on-year, but up over 90% sequentially. The profit came in slightly higher than analysts' estimate of INR 3.17 billion.

Revenue from operations rose over 9% on year and nearly 15% quarter-on-quarter to INR 36.84 billion in the March quarter, compared with analysts' estimate of INR 37.33 billion. The growth in net sales was expected to be driven by the company's grey cement segment, in line with broader trends seen across the cement industry.

Total expenses climbed more than 13% on year to INR 32.67 billion during the quarter, mainly due to a sharp increase in power and fuel costs, which surged nearly 30%, to INR 6.96 billion, likely due to the ongoing war in West Asia. Freight and forwarding expenses also rose and were up nearly 12% on year to INR 8.65 billion. Material consumption costs increased over 28% to INR 5.16 billion.

For FY26, the company's net profit rose over 21% to INR 10.33 billion from INR 8.51 billion in FY25. Revenue for the financial year increased over 15% to INR 129.45 billion.

The board of the company recommended a final dividend of INR 20 per share for FY26. Friday, shares of JK Cement ended marginally higher at INR 5,557.50 apiece on the National Stock Exchange.  End
