MUMBAI – Robust growth in sales across segments, higher overall billings and slower growth in expenses compared to sales supported Info Edge (India) Ltd.'s bottom line for the March quarter, which saw a double-digit sequential rise compared to a sharp fall in the trailing quarter. The company reported better than expected earnings for the quarter, with both the top and bottom line beating the Street's view.
The consumer internet company's net profit for the reporting quarter grew more than 25% sequentially and 21% on year to INR 3.09 billion, beating analysts' expectation of INR 2.69 billion. Its revenue from operations for the quarter rose over 5% sequentially and 17% on year to INR 8.05 billion, also beating the Street's estimate of INR 7.74 billion.
Shares of the company rose soon after the upbeat earnings announcement. After rising as much as 6.3%, the stock came slightly off highs and, at 1343 IST, traded over 3% higher at INR 956.85 on the National Stock Exchange.
The company's total expenses for the quarter rose over 3% on quarter to INR 4.82 billion, slower than the over 5% growth in its sales. Its largest cost, employee benefit expense, fell around 2% sequentially to INR 2.93 billion. This was mainly due to a reduction in its employee count by 150 to 6,000 during the quarter. Other expenses of the company declined 3.5% to INR 442 million. Its tax expenses, on the other hand, jumped over 27% sequentially to INR 1.06 billion.
The company's standalone billings for the quarter grew 7.4% on year to INR 10.57 billion. Sales from its largest segment, recruitment solutions, grew just above 1% sequentially and around 14% on year to INR 5.81 billion. Overall billings from the segment grew 9.5% on year to INR 8.11 billion. The segment registered an operating profit of INR 3.40 billion for the March quarter, up over 22% on year. Its standalone operating profit margin for the quarter improved to 58.5% from 54.5% in the year-ago quarter. The standalone business generated INR 6.19 billion in cash from operations, before taxes, for the March quarter, higher than the INR 5.32 billion recorded a year ago.
Revenue from the company's real estate business, 99 Acres, grew more than 21% sequentially and around 36% on year to INR 1.44 billion in the March quarter. Meanwhile, revenues from the 'others' segment of the company rose around 13% sequentially and 14% on year to INR 801.24 million.
Overall, Info Edge registered an over 39% on-year rise in its operating profit for the March quarter at INR 3.23 billion. Its standalone operating profit margin for the quarter improved to 40.1% from 33.7% a year ago. The overall standalone business generated INR 6.21 billion in cash from operations, before taxes, for the March quarter, higher than the INR 5.36 billion recorded a year ago.
For 2025–26 (Apr-Mar), the company reported a net profit of INR 55.36 billion, more than seven times the INR 7.73 billion reported in FY25. Its revenue from operations for the full year rose 15% on year to INR 30.52 billion. During the year, the company made significant progress in deploying artificial intelligence across its businesses, deepening its usage in matching, recommendations, and developing new AI-native products and features, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Hitesh Oberoi said in a post-earnings press release.
Along with the March quarter earnings, the company also announced final dividend of INR 3.60 per share for FY26. It has fixed Jul. 24 as the record date for the dividend. End
