EIA says US natural gas stocks up 101 bcf in week ended May 15

MUMBAI – Natural gas inventories in the US rose 101 billion cubic feet in the week ended May 15, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration. The inventory was 6.6% higher than the five-year average for this time of the year, the agency said in its weekly report.
The total working gas in underground storage was 2.39 trillion cubic feet as of May 15. The stocks were 149 billion cubic feet higher than the five-year average of 2.24 trillion cubic feet, the report said.
Total working gas remained within the five-year historical range. All five regions – the East, Midwest, Pacific, South Central, and the Mountain region – saw a rise in stocks during the week, the report said. At 0813 IST, the most-active June contract of natural gas on the New York Mercantile Exchange was down 0.2% at $2.996 per million British thermal units. End
