NEW DELHI – Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. Thursday said it has decided to increase the prices of its vehicles by up to INR 30,000 with effect from June because of a sustained increase in input costs. The exact quantum of the increase will vary from model to model, it said.

The country's largest car manufacturer said it has been trying to mitigate the impact of the increase in input costs through cost-reduction measures for the past few months. "However, with inflationary pressures now at elevated levels and the adverse cost environment persisting, the company has to pass on a portion of the increased costs to the market, while continuing to ensure that the impact on customers is kept to the minimum extent possible," it said.

For the March quarter, Maruti Suzuki's net profit was INR 35.91 billion on revenues of INR 524.49 billion. Thursday, its shares closed flat against Wednesday's close at INR 13,010 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
