KOLKATA – Allied Blenders and Distillers Ltd. Thursday said it is appointing Amar Sinha as managing director and an additional director of the company from Jun. 1 for a period of three years ending May 31, 2029. The appointment is subject to approval from shareholders. Sinha was appointed managing director-designate on Apr. 2.

 

Alok Gupta, the current managing director, will step down from his role on May 31, the company said in an exchange filing.

 

Sinha is a seasoned industry professional with over three decades of leadership experience across the alcoholic beverage and consumer sectors. He brings over three decades of leadership experience across these sectors, the company said. Over the course of his career, he has led corporations through phases of transformation and growth while building strong brands and businesses. His leadership journey includes roles as chief operating officer at Radico Khaitan, managing director at Whyte & Mackay India, and executive positions at Herbertsons and others.

 

Allied Blenders reported a decline of nearly 48% on year in its consolidated net profit for the March quarter to INR 409.74 million. Its revenue for the quarter fell by over 1% on year to INR 19.09 billion. Sequentially, the bottom line declined by over 38% and the top line by over 1%.

 

Thursday, its shares closed at INR 536.95 on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.9% from Wednesday.  End
