NEW DELHI – United Breweries Ltd. Monday said it will shut its brewery unit in Ludhiana, Punjab, from Jun. 30, as the company shifts supplies to a long-term leased contract brewing facility. The company said it has entered into a long-term capacity lease agreement with a contract brewing unit to secure beer supplies for Punjab and neighbouring states, including Delhi, the company said in its exchange filing.
United Breweries said the leased facility would help meet future demand more efficiently and sustainably through enhanced operations within Punjab, and added that the closure of the Ludhiana brewery would not affect its business performance in the state.
For the March quarter, the company reported a net profit of INR 1.02 billion on revenues of INR 44.06 billion. At 1238 IST, shares of the company traded nearly 1% lower at INR 1,354.90 on the National Stock Exchange. End
