MUMBAI – NHPC Ltd.'s earnings for the March quarter was its best quarterly performance in years, with both the bottom line and top line rising sharply. The company's bottom line growth was the best in over five years and the top line growth was the best in nearly seven years.

 

The power producer reported a net profit of INR 13.28 billion for the March quarter, up 48.5% on year. Analysts had expected the company's net profit at INR 2.19 billion to INR 8.10 billion. Its revenue rose over 33% on year to INR 27.41 billion for the quarter, higher than expectations of INR 17.90 billion to INR 22.60 billion.

 

NHPC's total expenses more than doubled on year to INR 27.11 billion, as other expenses rose around 84% to INR 10.31 billion. Its depreciation and amortisation expenses also more than doubled to INR 6.21 billion. 

 

For FY26, the company reported revenue growth of nearly 15% at INR 103.28 billion, and a net profit of INR 36.18 billion, up over 17% on year. The company said it would raise up to INR 20 billion by issuing listed, unsecured, noncumulative, non-convertible, redeemable, taxable AI series bonds through private placement, as a part of its borrowing plan for 2026-27 (Apr-Mar). Its board has also approved dividend of INR 0.21 per equity share, the final dividend payout to investors for FY26.

 

The company declared its March quarter results post market hours. On Friday, shares of NHPC closed over 2% lower at INR 76.79 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
