NEW DELHI – Next week, market participants will react to Vodafone Idea Ltd.'s March quarter results, set to be announced on Saturday. Overall, analysts are positive on stocks of telecommunication companies for the next two weeks.
The major weekly support zone for the BSE Telecommunication index is placed near 3196 points and the index is currently holding firmly above this level, said Rishabh Srivastava, a research analyst at Lakshmishree Investment and Securities. On the upside, immediate resistance zone is seen around 3385 points, he added.
"Momentum indicators remain supportive, with RSI (relative strength index) trending higher and prices sustaining above key moving averages. Overall, BSE Telecom looks structurally strong and remains favourable for positional bullish momentum this month," Srivastava said.
On Friday, the key sectoral index ended at 3356.15 points, up 0.4%.
Vodafone Idea is expected to report a narrower loss for the March quarter, helped by higher average revenue per user and lower finance costs after the government froze the company's adjusted gross revenue dues in December, according to analysts. The company's sequential revenue growth is expected to be in the low single digits, in line with the past two quarters.
The company's consolidated net loss for the reporting quarter is likely to be INR 53.42 billion, according to the average of estimates from eight brokerages. This compares with an adjusted net loss of INR 63.64 billion in the December quarter and a net loss of INR 71.66 billion in the year-ago quarter.
The company's consolidated revenue for the March quarter is expected to grow around 2% sequentially and about 5% year-on-year to INR 115.28 billion, according to the average of estimates.
