MUMBAI – NCC Ltd. reported an on-year fall in net profit for the fourth successive quarter in Jan-Mar, while its revenue declined for the sixth consecutive quarter. This was likely due to a slowdown in execution and the impact of the war in West Asia. Both the metrics were slightly higher than expectations.
The construction company reported a net profit of INR 2.03 billion for the March quarter, down over 5% on year but up over 147% over the trailing quarter. Analysts had expected the company to report a net profit of INR 1.97 billion. NCC reported revenue of INR 53.16 billion, down 1.1% on year but up 31.5% on quarter. Analysts had expected it to report a top line of INR 52.76 billion in Jan-Mar.
NCC's total expenditure for the March quarter was INR 51.02 billion, down 0.1% on year as a 13.5% fall in cost of raw materials was offset by an 11% rise in sub-contractor work bills. The company spent INR 19.29 billion to buy raw materials consumed. The sub-contractor work bills rose over 11% on year to 20.91 billion. These formed the largest part of the total expenditure of the company. Construction expenses for the quarter rose almost 13% on year to INR 5.37 billion, while employee costs rose about 8% to INR 2.16 billion.
For the financial year ended Mar. 31, the company reported a net profit of INR 5.77 billion, down 24% on year. Its revenue fell 9% on year to INR 174.63 billion.
NCC will pay INR 2.20 per share as dividend to its shareholders and has set Aug. 14 as the record date. The company has reappointed A.V.N. Raju as its whole-time director for five years from May 30. On Friday, shares of the company ended slightly lower at INR 159.95 ahead of its quarterly results. End
