MUMBAI – Welspun Living Ltd. reported a fall in its bottom line for the March quarter despite its total expenses for the period going down as the top line also fell. The company's revenues from its primary home textiles business as well as its secondary flooring business fell on year. The profit contracted on a year-on-year basis for the sixth successive quarter.

Welspun Living posted a fall of over 21% on year in its consolidated net profit for the March quarter to INR 1.04 billion. The fall in profit, however, is the least in four quarters. The company's revenue from operations fell 8% to INR 24.35 billion. The decline in Welspun Living's sales was also the least in four quarters. For the corresponding year-ago period, however, the company had posted a growth in sales.

For the quarter ended March, the textile company's total expenses declined over 6% to INR 23.26 billion. The cost of materials consumed, which accounts for half of the company's expenses, came down by more than 7% to INR 11.86 billion. However, the cost of raw materials rose over 4% sequentially.

Welspun Living's sales from its home textiles division fell by 5% on year to INR 23.20 billion and those from its flooring business dropped 3.5% to INR 1.89 billion. However, revenues from both segments rose sequentially. The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation from its textile and flooring businesses stood at INR 2.44 billion and INR 60 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, the company's total EBITDA for the quarter ended March contracted almost 17% on year to INR 2.65 billion and the margin was down 121 bps at 10.8%.

For the financial year 2025-26 (Apr-Mar), the company's consolidated net profit slid 68% to INR 2.04 billion on revenues of INR 93.99 billion. The sales declined almost 11%. The sales from the company's home textiles division declined 9.1% to INR 89.40 billion. Welspun Living incurred capital expenditure of INR 4.72 billion and ended FY26 with its net debt at INR 7.75 billion as on Mar. 31, down 52% on year.

In FY26, the company said its home textiles business faced headwinds from disruptions due to US tariffs, the war in West Asia, and reduced global demand. Welspun Living finished the financial year with its free cash flows at INR 9.56 billion, up more than eightfold from FY25.

The management is now aiming for double-digit growth in FY27. The company is positive on opportunities stemming from India's free trade agreements with the UK, Europe, and the US. "...the trough is firmly behind us," B.K. Goenka, chairman of the Welspun Group, said in the earnings release.
