MUMBAI – The Securities and Exchange Board of India will hold its next board meeting in the third week of June, a senior official said. The board meeting will likely take place on Jun. 19 or Jun. 20, another SEBI official told Informist.
SEBI's board meeting in June will be the first to be held in 2026-27 (Apr-Mar). The rules require the market regulator to hold at least four board meetings in a financial year, with at least one board meeting every quarter. SEBI held four board meetings in FY26, and five in FY25.
At the June meeting, the SEBI board is likely to consider proposals made in more than 10-12 consultation papers issued by the market regulator where a board overview may be pending. Its recent consultation papers on handling of client's unpaid securities by trading and clearing members, early pay-in for trades in the commodity derivatives segment, and framework on IT resilience index for market infrastructure institutions, are a few key ones that may be taken up by the board at the meet.
The SEBI board had last met on Mar. 23, when it approved key recommendations of a high-level committee on conflict of interest, disclosures, and related matters for its members and other officials, and decided these should be incorporated in the 2008 Code on Conflict of Interest for Members of the Board for voluntary adoption. In the Mar. 23 meeting, the SEBI board had also approved a proposal to permit net settlement of funds for transactions done by foreign portfolio investors in the cash market. End
