BSE launches F&O trade on BSE Focused IT index, records INR 1.5-bln turnover

MUMBAI – BSE launches futures and options contracts of the BSE Focused IT index, which has 14 information technology companies. On Monday, the first day of trade in these contracts, 172 members partcipated, with a turnover of INR 1.48 billion, according to a press release by BSE.
These derivative contacts will be settled in cash and expire once a month, on the last Thursday of a month. "With the IT sector's global linkages, rapid technological shifts, and currency sensitivities, this new derivative product will complement our index derivatives suite while enhancing risk management avenues for investors," the press release said.
For the quarter ended March, BSE's consolidated net profit was INR 7.97 billion on revenues of INR 15.64 billion. On Monday, shares of BSE closed at INR 3,918 on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.3% from Friday. End
