MUMBAI – Electricity trade volume on Indian Energy Exchange Ltd. increased nearly 17% on year in April to 12.34 billion units. It also recorded the highest ever single-day volume of 250 million units in the real-time market on Apr. 30, according to an exchange filing Tuesday.
The average market clearing price increased 1% on year in April to INR 5.26 per unit. "However, unseasonal rainfall during the initial days of April moderated demand and kept DAM (day-ahead market) prices below Rs. 3.5/unit on several days, presenting DISCOMs and C&I (commercial and industrial) consumers with an opportunity to procure power at highly competitive rates and optimise their procurement costs," the filing said.
For the March quarter, IEX reported a net profit of INR 1.24 billion on revenue of INR 1.72 billion. On Tuesday, its shares closed slightly higher at INR 127.62 per share on the National Stock Exchange. End
