NEW DELHI – The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Tuesday approved three railway projects with a total outlay of INR 234.37 billion. These projects include Nagda–Mathura line, Guntakal–Wadi line, and Burhwal-Sitapur line, an official release said.

The three projects covering 19 districts in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will increase the existing railway network by about 900 kilometres, the release said. The proposed multitracking project will increase rail connectivity to more than 4,000 villages. It will also improve rail connectivity to several prominent tourist destinations like Mahakaleshwar, Ranthambore National Park, Kuno National Park, Keoladeo National Park, Mathura, and Vrindavan.

The increased railway line capacity will significantly enhance mobility, resulting in improved operational efficiency and service reliability. These projects are poised to streamline operations and alleviate congestion. The projects are planned under the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan to enhance multimodal connectivity and logistics efficiency.  End
