--HC notice to Bajaj Auto on Transworld Ent plea against use of GoGo in EVs

NEW DELHI – The Delhi High Court Tuesday issued a notice to Bajaj Auto Ltd. on Transworld Enterprises Ltd.'s plea against the use of the "GoGo" name by the former for their electric three-wheelers. Contesting Transworld Enterprises' plea, Bajaj Auto said that it had INR-30-billion worth of sales of Bajaj GoGo electric three-wheelers from its launch since last year and the petitioner has neither made electric vehicles till date nor had registration for their trademark for the same.

Transworld Enterprises said that it had registered its trademark for the word Gogo, which was applied in 2006, and its registration also includes electric vehicles. Transworld Enterprises said that it was using the mark Gogo since 1986 and Bajaj Auto had launched the electric three-wheelers under this name only in March 2025.

Last year, Bajaj Auto had filed a plea before the high court seeking to remove Transworld Enterprises' Gogo trademark. Tuesday, the high court placed both the case together and listed it for hearing on May 18.

Bajaj Auto had entered the electric three-wheeler market last year with the launch of the GoGo series. The Bajaj GoGo had three variants in its portfolio, which were P5009, P5012, and  P7012. The 'p' alphabet stands for passengers, the initial two digits represent the size and the last two digits indicate the battery capacity in kilowatt hours. Samardeep Subandh, the president of Intracity Business Unit of Bajaj Auto, had told media last year that within two months of launch, Bajaj GoGo had helped the company secure a 36% share in the electric vehicle commercial space and a leading 39% in the passenger segment.

Bajaj GoGo has a range of up to 251 kilometre on a single charge and also features the industry's first two-speed automated transmission, improving range and gradability. The feature list of the Bajaj GoGo also includes first-in-class tech features like auto hazard and anti-roll detection, powerful light-emitting diode lights, and hill hold assist.

At 1207 IST, shares of Bajaj Auto traded 0.7% lower at INR 10,064.00 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
