Ashok Leyland April sales rise 9% YoY to 14,646 units but fall 42% from Mar

MUMBAI – Ashok Leyland Ltd.'s total sales rose 9% on year, but fell over 42% on month, to 14,646 units in April, as per the company data. Total sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles rose over 4% on year to 8,302 units but fell nearly 53% from the previous month, the data showed. 

 

Among the medium and heavy commercial vehicles segment, truck despatches rose 15% on year to 7,007 units while bus despatches fell 30% on year to 1,295 units. The sales of trucks and buses were down nearly 52% and 58%, respectively, as compared to the previous month. Total sales of light commercial vehicles of the Chennai-based auto maker rose 16% on year but fell over 19% on month to 6,344 units, as per the data.  

 

Total domestic sales Ashok Leyland rose 14% on year to 14,242 units, implying a fall of 40% from the sales reported in March. Sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles in India were at 7,977 units, up nearly 8% on year but down nearly 51% on month. Despatches of trucks were up 15% on year at 6,814 units, but those of bus fell 22% on year to 1,163 units, the data showed. 

 

Domestic light commercial vehicle sales were at 6,265 units, up nearly 23% on year but down nearly 17% from a month ago.

 

At 1135 IST, shares of the company were trading marginally higher at INR 162.32 on the National Stock Exchange. For the December quarter, the company reported a net profit of INR 7.96 billion on a revenue of INR 115.34 billion.  End
