MUMBAI – NMDC Ltd.'s iron ore production increased 16% on year to 4.64 million tonnes in April. However, its sales during the month were up only 1.4% at 3.68 million tonnes, according to an exchange filing by the company.
The sales growth for April was sharply lower than the nearly 13% growth reported by the company in 2025-26 (Apr-Mar). The 16% growth in production was also slower than the nearly 21% rise in production in FY26.
The slowdown in sales comes after the company increased prices of iron ore fines and lumps for three straight months. Since February, NMDC has cumulatively raised prices of iron ore fines and lumps by INR 600 per tonne and INR 700 per tonne, respectively.
For the quarter ended December, NMDC reported a net profit of INR 17.38 billion on revenues of INR 74.86 billion. Thursday, shares of the company closed at INR 90.37 on the National Stock Exchange, down 2% from the previous close. Equity markets were closed Friday on account of Maharashtra Day. End
