KOLKATA - TVS Motor Co. Ltd. Saturday said it had sold 473,970 units to dealerships in April, up 7% on year. The company sold 455,333 two-wheelers in April, up 6% on year. Within this segment, motorcycle sales declined over 9% on year to 200,039 units, but scooter sales rose 24% on year to 211,158 units.
The company's three-wheeler sales rose 37% on year to 18,637 units last month. TVS Motor sold 37,771 electric vehicles in April, up 36% on year. The company's total exports in April grew 3% on year to 120,008 units.
In a statement, TVS Motor said that demand for its products in the two- and three-wheeler segments continues to be robust in both domestic and international markets. However, dispatch volumes have been impacted by lower production due to supply-chain constraints, including workforce availability, raw material and consumable shortages, and limited container availability for timely international dispatches.
Countermeasures have been implemented, and production is expected to recover in May, the company said.
For the December quarter, TVS Motor reported a net profit of INR 9.40 billion on revenue of INR 124.76 billion. Thursday, the company's shares ended at INR 3,492.90 on the National Stock Exchange, down 1.72% from the previous close. End
