Hero MotoCorp two-wheeler despatches bounce 85% YoY on low base in April

MUMBAI – Hero MotoCorp Ltd. Friday said it sold 566,086 two-wheelers in April, up a whopping 85% on year, partly driven by a low base and a broad-based growth in sales across entry, deluxe, premium, and scooter segments. Its VAHAN registrations across India, barring Telangana, grew 8% on year to 552,713 in April. Sales of its electric scooters under the Vida brand grew 129% on year in April.
The company's domestic sales grew 84.5% on year but fell 3.6% on month to 532,433 units. Exports almost doubled on year but fell 26% on month to 33,653 units. Despatches of its motorcycles grew 75% on year and fell almost 6% on month to 501,791 units, while wholesale sales of its scooters jumped to 64,295 units from 19,317 units a year ago.
The Splendor maker had reported net profit of INR 13.49 billion for the December quarter on revenue of INR 123.28 billion. Thursday, its shares had fallen 0.3% to INR 5,099 on the National Stock Exchange. End
