--Eicher Motors Apr motorcycle exports 9,035 units, down 14% on year 

MUMBAI – Eicher Motors Ltd. Friday said it sold 113,164 Royal Enfield motorcycles to dealerships in April, up 31% on year and only 1% on month. This is the strongest year-on-year growth the company has registered in the last seven months. Exports of its motorcycles declined on year for the third consecutive month.

"With a robust pipeline of new products and brand initiatives, we are confident of maintaining the growth trajectory through the year, said B. Govindarajan, managing director of Eicher Motors and chief executive officer of Royal Enfield.

The company sold 99,703 motorcycles with engine capacities up to 350 cubic centimetres, up 34% year-on-year and almost 2% month-on-month. Models with engines larger than 350cc saw sales of 13,461 units in April, up almost 10% on year but down nearly 7% on month. In the international market, Eicher Motors sold 9,035 units, down 14% on year and 24% on month.   

For the December quarter, Eicher Motors had reported consolidated net profit of INR 14.21 billion on revenue of INR 61.14 billion. Thursday, shares of the company closed over 1% lower at INR 7,109 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
