MUMBAI – The weighted average lending rate on fresh rupee loans of scheduled commercial banks fell 4 basis points month on month to 8.40% in March, data released by the Reserve Bank of India Thursday showed.
The weighted average lending rate on fresh rupee loans by foreign banks rose 14 bps on month to 7.85% in March. The weighted average lending rate of private-sector banks fell 4 bps on month to 9.12% in March while that of public-sector banks was unchanged from the previous month at 7.84%.
The weighted average lending rate on outstanding rupee loans of scheduled commercial banks fell by 1 bp to 8.99% in March. The one-year median marginal cost of funds-based lending rate of scheduled commercial banks rose to 8.55% in April from 8.40% in March.
The weighted average rate on fresh rupee term deposits of scheduled commercial banks rose by 42 bps on month to 6.07% in March. The weighted average rate on outstanding rupee term deposits was unchanged from the previous month at 6.62% in March. End
