MUMBAI – Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. Thursday reported a rise in revenue and net profit for the March quarter, beating the Street's view on both. While revenue for the quarter jumped 47% on year, the automobile components manufacturer's net profit grew only 17?cause of a hit to its margins.

 

The company reported a net profit of INR 1.92 billion for the March quarter and revenue of INR 12.72 billion, according to its investor presentation, which was uploaded on the exchanges before its profit and loss statement. According to the profit and loss statement, the company's consolidated revenue was INR 12.57 billion, slightly above expectations of INR 12.17 billion. Its consolidated net profit as per the profit and loss statement was INR 1.92 billion, above the Street's view of INR 1.79 billion.

 

The company reported earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation of INR 3.11 billion, up 32% on year. Its EBITDA margin in the reporting quarter was 270 basis points lower on year at 24.4%. The margin was hit by a rise in commodity costs and an unfavourable product mix.

 

Sona BLW's revenue for the reporting quarter from battery operations for electric vehicles was INR 3.59 billion, up 22% on year. The company's net order book as of Mar. 31 stood at INR 2.37 billion, up from INR 2.35 billion as of Dec. 31.

 

The company's total expenses for the reporting quarter were INR 10.43 billion, up 48% on year. At INR 5.78 billion, the cost of materials consumed by the company accounted for 55% of its total expenses. The cost of materials consumed rose nearly 60% on year. The other expenses rose 33% to INR 2.38 billion. Employee benefit expenses shot up 60% to INR 1.26 billion.

 

Sona BLW's consolidated net profit for the financial year 2025-26 (Apr-Mar) rose to INR 6.40 billion from INR 6.01 billion in FY25. Its revenue for FY26 was INR 44.49 billion, up substantially from INR 35.46 billion a year ago.

 

Sona BLW reported its financial results for the March quarter and FY26 after market hours. The company will pay a final dividend of INR 1.80 per share. The record date for the dividend has been set at Jun. 26. Thursday, the company's stock closed 1.3% higher at INR 607.25 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
