NEW DELHI – Public sector banks offered jobs to 50,552 candidates during 2025–26 (Apr-Mar) to meet the growing business requirements, finance ministry said in a release Thursday. This was significantly higher than 37,860 jobs offered in FY25 and 30,827 in FY24, reflecting a clear and sustained year-on-year expansion in workforce across state-owned banks, the release said.

Recruitment in public sector banks is conducted through the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. The centralised and standardised framework ensures efficiency in the selection process.

The recruitment will help strengthening operational capacity and reduce workload pressures. It will also improve customer service delivery and responsiveness while supporting the expansion of banking services in underserved areas. Financial inclusion also will get a boost through credit outreach progammes.

The government remains committed to ensuring that public sector banks are equipped with adequate, skilled, and future-ready human resources, enabling them to play a pivotal role in driving financial inclusion, supporting economic activity, and meeting the economy's evolving needs, the release said.  End
