Govt asks PSU bks, insurers to give reservation to disabled persons in jobs

NEW DELHI – The government has asked all public sector banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions to give reservation to persons with disabilities in both direct recruitment and promotion, a release from the finance ministry said Wednesday. Public sector financial institutions have also been asked to convene periodic meetings with the persons with disabilities employees welfare associations to ensure that their views are heard and grievances resolved in a timely manner, the release said.

 

The financial institutions have been instructed to "adopt an equal opportunity policy in compliance of Section 21 & 23 of the Right of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, with the approval of their respective Boards," the release said. These measures will ensure an inclusive work environment for the persons with disabilities which is non-discriminating and provides equal opportunities. These financial institutions will also have to appoint Grievance Redressal Officer to resolve complaints persons with disabilities employees.  End
