MUMBAI – Adani Power Ltd. Wednesday reported robust year-on-year growth in its bottom line for the March quarter after four quarters of decline, primarily because of a surge in its other income. The company's top line for the quarter fell marginally on year, down for the second successive quarter.

Adani Power reported a consolidated net profit of INR 40.17 billion for the March quarter, up over 52% on year and 62% sequentially. Its consolidated revenue from operations fell 0.1% on year to INR 142.23 billion. Sequentially, the top line rose over 14%. The company's other income for the quarter rose a staggering 492%, or nearly six-fold, to INR 17.66 billion from INR 2.98 billion a year ago.

The company's other incomes includes amounts pertaining to earlier years, based on orders received from various regulatory authorities such as the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity, and the Supreme Court of India.

Adani Power's total expenses during the quarter rose around 3% on year to INR 116.05 billion. Its fuel costs fell marginally to INR 78.96 billion while depreciation and amortisation costs rose nearly 6% to INR 11.47 billion. The company's other expenses rose 2.5% on year to INR 11.02 billion for the March quarter. Its finance cost was up 26.5% on year at INR 9.67 billion.

Adani Power's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation rose 27% on year to INR 64.98 billion for the reporting quarter. Despite weak demand, its consolidated power sales volume rose to 27.2 billion units, up 3% from 26.4 billion units in the corresponding period a year ago. Power demand was affected during the quarter by cold weather and unseasonal rains in several regions, subduing offtake until February, the company said. However, demand growth resumed in March with the advent of warmer weather. The company installed 18.15 gigawatts of capacity during the quarter, up from 17.55 gigawatts in the year-ago quarter. Its plant load factor fell slightly to 74% from 74.2% a year ago.

The company has reappointed Anil Sardana as managing director for one year from Jul. 11. For the financial year 2025-26 (Apr-Mar), the company's consolidated net profit was down slightly at INR 128.34 billion. It earned revenues of INR 542.41 billion for the year, down 3.5%. The company declared its March quarter results during market hours. Wednesday, shares of Adani Power closed 1.8% lower at INR 219.28 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
