MUMBAI – Technology giant Google Tuesday started the construction of an artificial intelligence hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, its largest investment in India. Google will invest $15 billion between 2026 and 2030 to establish a comprehensive AI ecosystem in India.

The project includes India's first gigawatt-scale AI hub comprising three data center campuses. AdaniConnex and Nxtra will lead the construction of the data centre buildings and connecting infrastructure. AdaniConnex is a joint venture between Adani Enterprises Ltd. and EdgeConneX while Nxtra is Bharti Airtel Ltd.'s subsidiary engaged in the business of data centres.

"The AI hub also comprises the America-India Connect initiative for an expanded fiber-optic network; and a long-term clean energy strategy that prioritises bringing new clean energy supply to the electricity grid, accelerating India's national goal of reaching 500 GW (gigawatts) of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030," the release said.

For the quarter ended December, Bharti Airtel had reported consolidated net profit of INR 66.31 billion on revenue of INR 539.82 billion. Adani Enterprises reported consolidated net profit of INR 56.27 billion on revenues of INR 248.20 billion for the December quarter. At 1341 IST, shares of the Bharti Airtel traded 0.9% higher at INR 1,837.00 and those of Adani Enterprises over 2% higher at INR 2,372.10 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
