NEW DELHI – The Delhi government barred fuel pumps from dispensing petrol, diesel, compressed natural gas, and liquified petroleum gas to vehicles without a valid pollution under control certificate. The rule will apply to all retail outlets from public- and private-sector marketing companies within the National Capital Territory, the gazette notification on Saturday said.
An annual pollution under control certificate is mandated from after one year of a new vehicle's registration. The fuel pumps, government departments, and the Delhi traffic police shall ensure compliance with the order, the notification said. The Delhi government under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had begun implementing the rule in December in a bid to limit vehicular pollution and said it would implement the rule year-round rather than only in the winter months.
