MUMBAI – The Reserve Bank of India net bought $7.41 billion worth of dollars in the foreign exchange market in February, according to data released by the central bank Thursday. The central bank had bought $2.53 billion on a net basis in January and had sold $1.62 billion in February 2025.

 

On a gross basis, the RBI bought $21.40 billion in February, down from $28.00 billion in January. It sold $13.99 billion in February, sharply down from $25.47 billion in the previous month. The RBI's net outstanding forward foreign exchange sales in February were $77.67 billion, up from $67.77 billion in January.  


The RBI bought and sold $1.41 billion each on a gross basis in the currency futures market in February, which resulted in a nil net position. In January, it had bought and sold $2.59 billion each. The RBI's net outstanding sales in the futures segment at the end of February were $522 million, down from sales of $610 million in the previous month.  End
