--Govt extends Bank of Baroda MD, CEO Chand's tenure by 3 years
NEW DELHI - The government has extended the tenure of Debadatta Chand as the managing director and chief executive officer of Bank of Baroda by three years, the lender informed exchanges Thursday. The extension will be "for a period of three years beyond his currently notified term which is ending on 30.06.2026 (Jun. 30), or until further orders, whichever is earlier," the exchange filing said.
Chand first assumed charge as the state-owned lender's chief on Jul. 1, 2023, for three years. He took over from Sanjiv Chadha, whose tenure had ended on Jun. 30, 2023.
For the quarter ended December, Bank of Baroda's net profit was INR 50.55 billion, up over 4% on year and over 5% on a sequential basis. The Vadodara-headquartered bank's net interest income for the reporting quarter was INR 118 billion, marginally up from INR 117.86 billion in the year-ago quarter. Thursday, shares of the bank closed 2.4% lower at INR 276 on the National Stock Exchange. End
