MUMBAI – JSW Energy Ltd.'s subsidiary JSW Mahanadi Power Co. Ltd. has received a notice from the water resources division in Janjgir, Chhattisgarh, asking it to pay INR 14.47 billion towards water charges. JSW Energy said it will not have to pay the amount as it pertains to the period before JSW Energy acquired Mahanadi Power through insolvency proceedings.
JSW Energy said the National Company Law Tribunal, Hyderabad, had said in February 2025 that all liabilities that are not part of Mahanadi Power's resolution plan will be extinguished. "Post implementation of the resolution plan, JMPCL is regularly paying water charges," JSW Energy said in an exchange filing Tuesday. Considering this, JSW Mahanadi Power has challenged the latest demand notice in the Chhattisgarh High Court.
For the quarter ended December, JSW Energy had, on a consolidated basis, reported a net profit of INR 4.89 billion on a revenue of INR 40.82 billion. Its shares closed Tuesday at INR 546.65 on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.7%. End
