NEW DELHI – The Directorate General of Foreign Trade Friday issued an order listing 15 banks authorised by the Reserve Bank of India to import both gold and silver. The notification applies to all gold and silver imports from Apr. 1, 2026 to Mar. 31, 2029.
This is an annual issuance, which typically comes at the start of each financial year. But due to a delay in notification by the government this year, gold and silver shipments were stuck awaiting customs clearance.
The list includes Axis Bank, Bank of India, Deutsche Bank, Federal Bank, HDFC Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, Punjab National Bank, RBL Bank, State Bank of India, and YES Bank. Besides these 15 banks, the notification also specifies that Union Bank of India and SBER Bank are authorised by the RBI to import only gold. End
