India gets 76% above-normal rainfall in week to Wed at 14.2 mm, says IMD

MUMBAI – India received an average rainfall of 14.2 millimetres in the week ended Wednesday, 76% above the normal of 8.1 millimetres for the period, according to the India Meteorological Department. During Mar. 1- Apr. 8, the country received 49.6 millimetres of rainfall, 27?ove the normal of 39.0 millimetres.
All four homogeneous regions of the country received above-normal rainfall during the week. East and northeast India received 27.1 millimetres, 10% above the normal of 24.5 millimetres, according to the data. The South peninsula received 6.2 millimetres, 10% above the normal of 5.6 millimetres. Northwest India received 20.6 millimetres of rainfall, 158% above normal. Central India received 7.0 millimetres, a whopping 291?ove the normal of 1.8 millimetres.
Of the 36 subdivisions, 21 received "large excess" showers, three received "excess" rainfall, and three received normal rainfall. Showers were "deficient" in four subdivisions and "large deficient" in another four, according to the data. One subdivision received no rainfall, the data showed. End
