--Cabinet OKs INR 130.38 bln for phase 2 of Jaipur Metro 

 

NEW DELHI – Union Cabinet Wednesday approved INR 130.38 billion for the second phase of Jaipur Metro rail project. This phase will entail a 41-kilometre-long North–South corridor from Prahladpura to Todi Mod, comprising 36 stations.

 

Rajasthan Metro Rail Corp. Ltd., a 50:50 joint venture of the central government and the Rajasthan government, will implement the project, the government said in a press release. The funding for the project will br structured through equity support from the Centre and Rajasthan government, and subordinate debt and multilateral financing.

 

"The Phase-2 corridor will provide seamless connectivity to major activity nodes such as Sitapura Industrial Area, VKIA, Jaipur Airport, Tonk Road, SMS Hospital and Stadium, Ambabari and Vidhyadhar Nagar," the release said. Jaipur already has an operational Metro system under Phase-1, running along the East–West corridor from Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar, covering 11.64 km with 11 stations which connects important residential and commercial areas with Heritage Walled City, Jaipur's central business district.  End
