--Cabinet OKs INR 415.34 bln for nutrient based subsidy for kharif season
NEW DELHI – The Union Cabinet Wednesday approved the proposal of the Department of Fertilizers for fixing the nutrient-based subsidy rates for the kharif season of 2026, effective Apr. 1 to Sept. 30, on phosphatic and potassic fertilisers, according to an official release.
The budgetary requirement for kharif season of 2025 would be around INR 415.34 billion, approximately INR 43.2 billion more than the budgetary requirement of kharif 2025-26 season.
The subsidy would be provided to fertiliser companies as per the approved rates to ensure smooth availability of these fertilisers to the farmers at affordable prices, the release said. The government is providing 28 grades of phosphatic and potassic fertiliers to farmers at subsidised prices through fertiliser manufacturers and importers, the release said. End
