--[I] US Trump on Iran: "A whole civilization will die tonight"
NEW DELHI – "A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again," US President Donald Trump threatened Tuesday as the US-Israel war on Iran continued in West Asia. Trump added that he did not want this to happen, "but it probably will".
In a social media post, Trump said the disaster could only be averted if "something revolutionarily wonderful" happens as "smarter, and less radicalised minds prevail" in Tehran. Tuesday is the deadline set by Trump for Iran to cut a "deal" with his administration and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
"However, now that we have complete and total regime change, where different, smarter, and less radicalised minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, who knows?" Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. The US-Israel combine, in precisely targeted attacks, has wiped out Iran's top political, military, and intelligence leadership, starting with supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Feb 28.
Monday, during a press conference at the Oval Office, Trump said Iran "could be taken out in one night" and "that night may be tomorrow". On the same day, a proposal for a 45-day ceasefire was put forth by Pakistan after meetings seeking an end to the war. According to media reports, Iran rejected the proposed truce, pitching instead for a permanent end to the hostilities. Tehran's proposal had 10 conditions, including the lifting of US sanctions and war reparations.
In his latest post Tuesday, Trump termed the deadline "one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the world" before "47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end". "We will find out tonight… God bless the great people of Iran!" he wrote. End
