Bajaj Auto Mar sales up 20% YoY at 445,377 units; Q4 sales 5.12 mln, up 10%

MUMBAI – Bajaj Auto Ltd. sold 445,377 automobiles to dealerships in India and overseas in March, up 20% on year. The growth was strong in domestic and overseas markets and across the portfolio, the company said in an exchange filing Thursday. It sold 5.12 million units of automobiles during the March quarter, up 10% on year.
Bajaj Auto sold 266,290 automobiles in India last month, up 20% on year. Its exports stood at 179,087 units in March, up 21% on year. For the quarter, it sold 2.87 million units in India, up 3% on year, and exported 2.25 million units, 21% higher than a year ago.
Two-wheeler sales of the Chetak-maker climbed 21% on year to 380,473 units. Domestic sales grew 20% on year to 221,021 units. The company exported 159,452 two-wheelers last month, up 21% on year. During Jan-Mar, the company sold a total of 4.32 million two-wheelers, up 8% on year, of which 2.35 million units were sold in India and 1.97 million units were exported, up 2% and 18%, respectively.
Wholesale sales of its commercial vehicles grew almost 20% on year to 64,904 units in March and 800,817 units in Jan-Mar. Of this, domestic CV sales grew 20% on year to 45,269 units in March and 8% on year to 518,444 units in Jan-Mar, while exports grew 21% on year to 19,635 units last month and 49% on year to 282,373 units in the three-month period.
For the quarter ended December, Bajaj Auto had reported a net profit of INR 25.03 billion on a revenue of INR 152.20 billion. On Thursday, shares of the company ended 1.5% lower at INR 8,758.50 on the National Stock Exchange. End
