NEW DELHI – Domestic airlines carried 14.07 million passengers in February, up 0.2% from a year ago, data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation Thursday showed. In the first two months of 2026, domestic airlines carried 29.32 million passengers, up 2.3% on year, the DGCA said.

 

InterGlobe Aviation Ltd.'s IndiGo airline retained its dominant position, though its market share edged lower to 63.1% in February from 63.6% in January. The airline carried 8.87 million passengers during the month, down from 9.70 million passengers in January. Its passenger load factor rose to 89.6% in February from 87.7% in the previous month. 

 

The Air India group's market share inched higher to 27.0% in February from 26.5% a month earlier, while its passenger load factor improved to 88.3% from 86.5% in January. The airline carried 3.79 million passengers during the month, down from 4.03 million in January.

 

Akasa Air's market share rose marginally to 4.9% in February from 4.8% in January, while its passenger load factor edged up to 93.3% from 93.2%. The airline carried 689,000 passengers during the month, down from 729,000 in January.

 

SpiceJet's market share remained unchanged on month at 3.9% in February. Its passenger load factor rose to 89.0% from 85.9% in January. The airline carried 555,000 passengers during the month, down from 592,000 in the previous month. End
