AHMEDABAD - Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. reported a strong operational performance for 2025-26 (Apr-Mar), crossing the 500-million-tonne cargo handling milestone for the first time ever supported by robust growth in container volumes, the company said in a notice to the stock exchanges on Thursday.
The company said it handled 500.8 million tonnes of cargo in FY26 on the back of 11% rise in cargo, led primarily by 19% jump in containers handled. In FY25, the company's ports had handled 450.2 million tonnes of cargo.
On the logistics front, the performance was mixed. During FY26, rail volume stood at 695,517 twenty-foot equivalent units, up 8% from the previous year. Volume of the company's General Purpose Wagon Investment Scheme remained largely flat at 21.7 million tonnes, compared with 21.97 million tonnes a year ago.
Container terminal operations remained a key growth driver for the company in FY26, with Container Wharf India Terminal having handled 1.06 million containers in FY26, surpassing the 1 million TEU milestone in its first year of operations. The company's international operations showed gradual traction, with Haifa port handling 0.77 million tonnes in March, up from 0.59 million tonnes in February, indicating improving throughput despite ongoing military conflict in the region.
In March, Adani Ports also handled its highest-ever monthly cargo volume of 46 million tonnes, up 11% from the previous year, driven again by a 14% rise in container volumes. However, the rail volumes declined 7% on year to 55,237 TEUs for the month of March. The monthly volumes at the Container Wharf India Terminal reached a record 134,960 TEUs in March.
For the December quarter, Adani Ports reported a consolidated net profit of INR 30.54 billion on revenues of INR 97.05 billion. On Thursday, shares of the company ended 0.6% lower at INR 1,377.60 on the National Stock Exchange. End
