NEW DELHI – Hindustan Zinc Ltd. Thursday reported its highest-ever quarterly mined metal production figures at 315,000 tonnes for Jan-Mar, up 2% year-on-year. This was "driven by higher ore production and better grades," the company said in an exchange filing.

The company also recorded its highest-ever quarterly refined metal production during the three months, at 282,000 tonnes, rising 5% on year. This was due to additional capacity unlocked by the debottlenecking projects at Chanderiya and Dariba smelters, alongside operational efficiency and higher plant availability, as per the filing. The Vedanta group company saw a 6% on-year rise in its refined zinc output for Jan-Mar at 227,000 tonnes, but its refined lead output for the quarter fell 2% on year to 55,000 tonnes.

Silver output of the company also saw a marginal year-on-year decline in the March quarter at 176,000 tonnes. It generated 56 million units of wind power during the quarter, down 11% on year.

FY26 TALLY

Hindustan Zinc also recorded its highest-ever annual mined metal production in 2025-26 (Apr-Mar) at 1.11 million tonnes, up 2% year-on-year. The company's refined metal output for the year was down slightly on year at 1.05 million tonnes, dragged by a 13?ll in its refined lead production at 197,000 tonnes. This fall was primarily on account of pyro operations running partially on lead-only mode and lower plant availability, as per the filing.

Its refined zinc output, on the other hand, rose 3% on year in the 12-month period to 851,000 tonnes. The company said the rise in refined zinc output for FY26 was driven by commissioning of debottlenecking projects and the 160 kilo-tonnes per annum roaster at Debari in Rajasthan, along with pyro operations running on zinc-lead mode for the full year.

Hindustan Zinc's saleable silver production was down 9% year-on-year at 627,000 tonnes for FY26. This is in line with the fall in lead production and due to lower silver input from mines in accordance with the mining sequence, the company said. The 7% year-on-year rise in wind power generation for FY26 at 372 million units was in line with wind velocity, according to the filing.

For the December quarter, Hindustan Zinc reported a net profit of INR 38.79 billion on revenues of INR 109.22 billion. Thursday, shares of the company ended 1.7% lower at INR 515.75 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
