--InterGlobe revises fuel charge for domestic flights to INR 275-INR 950

--InterGlobe revises fuel charge on intl routes to INR 900-INR 10,000

MUMBAI – InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. Wednesday said it will revise its fuel charges for domestic routes in the range of INR 275-INR 950 and for international routes in the INR 900-INR 10,000 range for all new bookings made from Thursday. This decision comes as the government has allowed state-run oil marketing companies to raise the price of aviation turbine fuel in a staggered manner, the company said in an exchange filing.

The revised domestic fuel charges will vary depending on travel distance, such as INR 275 for 0-500 kilometres, INR 400 for 501-1,000 kms, INR 600 for 1,001-1,500 kms, INR 800 for 1,501-2,000 kms, and INR 950 for over 2,000 kms. Prices of aviation turbine fuel have more than doubled for international operations in March, having a significant impact on the airline's operating costs on these routes, the company said.

For international routes, fuel charges of INR 900-INR 2,500 will be applicable in the Indian Subcontinent, INR 3,000-INR 5,000 in the Gulf Cooperation Council and West Asia, and INR 3,500-INR 5,000 in Southeast Asia and China. The aviation company has also revised fuel charge to INR 5,000 for routes in Africa, INR 7,500 in Greece and Turkey, and INR 10,000 for the UK and Europe excluding Greece and Turkey, it said.

While fully offsetting the fuel price hike would require "substantial fare revisions", the company has passed on a relatively smaller amount to customers, keeping in mind the consequential burden on them, InterGlobe Aviation said.

The airline company reported a net profit of INR 6.13 billion for the quarter ended December on a revenue of INR 234.72 billion. On Wednesday, shares of the company ended over 6% higher at INR 4,180.80 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
