RBI says got currency notes of INR 2,000 worth INR 500 million in March

NEW DELHI – The Reserve Bank of India received INR 500 million worth of the withdrawn INR 2,000 currency notes in March. The total value of INR 2,000 banknotes in circulation has declined to INR 55.01 billion as of Tuesday, with 98.45% of such notes out of circulation, the RBI said in a release.
On May 19, 2023, the central bank withdrew banknotes of INR 2,000 denomination from circulation. These notes remain legal tender. Currently, the facility to deposit or exchange these notes is open only at RBI's 19 issue offices. End
