IMD sees hot, humid weather in parts of Kerala till Thu, east India till Sat

MUMBAI – Hot and humid weather conditions are expected over parts of Kerala till Thursday, over parts of Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand from Thursday to Saturday, and over Odisha till Saturday, the India Meteorological Department said. An alert for hot and humid weather is issued when maximum temperatures remain 3 degrees Celsius above normal, along with above-normal relative humidity.
A fresh western disturbance acting as a cyclonic circulation lies over east Iran while an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over southwest Pakistan and adjoining Kutch, the weather department said. Another upper air cyclonic circulation lies over northeast Rajasthan, the department said. These weather systems are expected to cause heavy rainfall over parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad Friday, it said. Light to moderate rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are expected over most parts of northwest India till Tuesday.
Under the influence of the same weather systems, hailstorms are expected over parts of Jammu and Kashmir and west Rajasthan Friday, over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi Friday and Saturday, over Uttarakhand and east Rajasthan Saturday, over west Uttar Pradesh over the weekend, and over east Uttar Pradesh Sunday. Thundersqualls with wind speeds reaching 50–60 km per hour and gusting up to 70 km per hour are likely over parts of west Uttar Pradesh Saturday and Sunday and over east Uttar Pradesh Sunday.
An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over southeast Madhya Pradesh and a trough runs from east Bihar to north central Maharashtra across Jharkhand, north Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh, the weather bureau said. These weather systems are expected to cause hailstorms over parts of Madhya Pradesh till Friday and over Vidarbha till Thursday, the bureau said. A wet spell with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is expected over multiple parts of central India in the next five days, it said.
The presence of the trough from east Bihar to north central Maharashtra is also expected to cause hailstorms over parts of central Maharashtra till Friday and over Marathwada Friday. Thundersqualls with wind speeds reaching 50–60 km per hour and gusting up to 70 km per hour are likely over these regions Thursday and Friday, the weather bureau said. A wet spell with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are expected over parts of central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Gujarat till Saturday, and over coastal Maharashtra Thursday, the bureau said.
Under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam, heavy rainfall is likely over parts of Arunachal Pradesh till Thursday, and from Sunday to Tuesday, the weather department said. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are expected over several parts of northeast India till Sunday, the department said.
A trough runs from interior Tamil Nadu to north interior Karnataka, which is expected to cause hailstorms over parts of north interior Karnataka Saturday and Sunday and over parts of south interior Karnataka Sunday, the weather bureau said. A wet spell with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is expected over several parts of south peninsular India till Sunday, the bureau said.
Light to moderate rainfall is expected over many parts of east India, the weather department said. End
