KOLKATA - Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Wednesday said it sold 99,969 automobiles in March, up 21% on year. The company sold 60,272 utility vehicles last month in India, up 25% on year.

The company's commercial vehicle sales in India grew 11% on year to 24,928 units. Sales of light commercial vehicles with a payload capacity under two tonnes remained flat on year at 3,526 units while those with a payload capacity over 2 tonnes but under 3.5 tonnes grew 13% on year to 21,402 units.

Wholesale sales of three-wheelers, including electric variants, grew 39% on year to 10,801 units. However, overall automotive exports by the company fell 4% on year to 3,968 units.

"The financial year ended on a very positive note, with Mahindra clocking its highest-ever volumes in both SUVs (sports utility vehicles) & LCVs (light commercial vehicle) segments, a significant milestone for the company," Nalinikanth Gollagunta, chief executive officer of the company's automotive division, said in a statement.

Mahindra & Mahindra said that 2025-26 (Apr-Mar) ended with an all-time high sales volume of 660,276 sports utility vehicles and 289,597 light commercial vehicles, delivering on year growth of 20% and 13%, respectively.

FARM EQUIPMENT

In March, M&M sold 45,035 tractors, up 29% on year, primarily on account of strong domestic sales. Tractor sales in India surged 33% on year to 43,403 units but exports fell 31% on year to 1,632 units. During FY26, the company sold 526,403 tractors, up 24% on year.

"A significant part of this high growth was driven by the full Navratri season falling entirely in March'26, unlike last year when it was split between March and April," Veejay Nakra, president of the farm equipment business at Mahindra & Mahindra said in the statement.

"We ended FY26 with highest ever sales of 5,05,930 registering growth of 24%. In the exports market, we have sold 1632 tractors," he said.

TRUCKS, BUSES

M&M sold 4,267 buses and trucks in March, up 13% on year. These are vehicles with a payload capacity exceeding 3.5 tonnes and are sold under M&M's trucks and buses division and SML Mahindra Ltd. "Despite the headwinds faced from global geopolitical tensions and elevated crude prices, the commercial vehicle industry has sustained its strong momentum, underscoring the sector's resilience," said Vinod Sahay, president of SML Mahindra.

The company sold 1,692 cargo vehicles to dealerships in March, up 10% on year, and 2,575 passenger vehicles under this division, up 15% on year. In the last financial year, M&M sold 31,464 trucks and buses, up 15% on year.

"Looking ahead, the trajectory for F27 remains mixed - while replacement demand and government-led are expected to support volumes, volatility in fuel costs and supply chain constraints temper sentiment," Sahay said.

For the December quarter, M&M had reported net profit of INR 39.31 billion on revenue of INR 385.17 billion. At 1130 IST, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra traded 2.7% higher at INR 3,035.0 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
