RBI gives approval to Coforge for overseas investment under FEMA rules

MUMBAI – The Reserve Bank of India has given approval to Coforge Ltd. for overseas direct investment of over $1 billion under Foreign Exchange Management (Overseas Investment) Rules, according to an exchange filing from late Monday. This clears a regulatory hurdle for Coforge to buy Encora entities for an equity value of $1.9 billion through a share-swap agreement.

 

"A few other regulatory approvals required in various jurisdictions are currently in their advanced stages of processing," the filing said. The company had got shareholders approval for the deal in February.

 

For the December quarter, Coforge reported consoldidated net profit of INR 2.50 billion on revenue of INR 41.88 billion. At 1007 IST, shares of the company traded at INR 1,182.60 on the National Stock Exchange, up more than 6%.  End
