NEW DELHI – The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet Tuesday approved naming Sanjay Lohiya, currently additional secretary at the mines ministry, as special secretary in the finance ministry's Department of Financial Services. Lohiya will take up the post upon the superannuation of Banking Secretary M. Nagaraju on May 31. 

In a major shuffle, the panel approved the appointment of Tejveer Singh, a 1994-batch Indian Administrative Services officer presently in cadre, as chemicals secretary. This follows the naming of Nivedita Shukla Verma, who held the position of chemicals secretary, as secretary in the Department of Administration Reforms and Public Grievances. The government also exchanged the titles of Chanchal Kumar and Sanjay Jaju to information & broadcasting secretary and north eastern region development secretary, respectively.

The government appointed Rohit Kansal, additional secretary at the textile ministry, as secretary at the Department of Rural Development. This comes after the superannuation of Shailesh Kumar Singh, who previously held the position of secretary in the department, on Tuesday. The government also promoted Sajjan Singh Yadav to the position of special secretary from additional secretary in the finance ministry's expenditure department.  End
