--RBI: Weighted avg rate on new bank deposits 5.65?b vs 5.66% Jan 

 

MUMBAI – The weighted average lending rate on fresh rupee loans of scheduled commercial banks fell five basis points month on month to 8.44% in February, data released by the Reserve Bank of India on Monday showed.

 

The weighted average lending rate on fresh rupee loans by foreign banks fell by 10 bps on month to 7.71% in February. The weighted average lending rate of private sector banks fell 16 bps on month to 9.16% in February, while that of public sector banks rose 9 bps to 7.84%.

 

The weighted average lending rate on outstanding rupee loans of scheduled commercial banks fell 4 bps on month to 9.00% in February. The one-year median marginal cost of funds-based lending rate of scheduled commercial banks fell to 8.40% in March from 8.45% in February.

 

The weighted average rate on fresh rupee term deposits of scheduled commercial banks fell by 1 bps on month to 5.65% in February and the weighted average rate on outstanding rupee term deposits fell by 2 bps on month to 6.62% in January. End
