Govt OKs 29 applications of INR 71.04 bln under electronics component scheme

MUMBAI – The government Monday approved 29 applications worth INR 71.04 billion under the electronics component manufacturing scheme. With this set of approvals, a total of 75 applications under the scheme have been approved with an investment of INR 616.71 billion as of Monday. The new set of applications will generate INR 845.15 billion of electronic components and create 14,256 jobs, according to a press release by the government.

 

The total 75 projects approved will create 65,040 jobs, with a target of creating 91,600 jobs under the scheme. In the Union Budget for 2026-27 (Apr-Mar), the total outlay of the scheme was proposed to be raised to INR 400 billion. The scheme was launched in April 2025 with an outlay of INR 229.29 billion.

 

The military conflict in West Asia has had no impact on the electronics sector of India so far, Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said Monday. Vaishnaw said he has asked "practically every industry" associated with the electronics sector, be it mobile manufacturing, IT hardware, or passive components, each said there has so far been no impact of the war. "...we will continuously keep interacting with the industry and see if there is any stress which is coming at any point of time," he said.  End
