NEW DELHI – No liquefied petroleum gas distributorships have reported stock dry-out in the country and deliveries of domestic LPG cylinders are normal, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said in a release. On Friday, over 5.4 million refilled LPG cylinders were delivered, it added.

"To prevent diversion at the distributor level, Delivery Authentication Code (DAC)-based deliveries have been increased from 53% (Feb-2026) to 84% yesterday," the ministry said.

Meanwhile, the government has restored 20% of commercial LPG supply to consumers. It has also bumped up the allocation of commercial allocation to 70% of the pre-West-Asia-crisis level to states and union territories. Of this, 20% allocation shall be given on priority to sectors like restaurants, dhabas, hotels, industrial canteens, food processing, dairy, among others. From the total, a 20% allocation would be given to industries with priority to steel, automobile, textile, dye, chemicals, and plastics, the ministry said.

Since Mar. 14, a total of 33,781 tonnes of LPG has been lifted by commercial entities, it added.

Meanwhile, the Centre has set an ambitious target of providing 5.0 million new PNG connections in urban areas. As of Friday, city gas distributors reported 11,463 PNG connections, including new connections and old, in 110 focused geographical areas, the release said.

Though panic buying was reported in some areas, the petroleum ministry said that all retail outlets are operating normally across the country. "There were certain rumours which led to panic buying at some retail outlets in a few states, resulting in unusually high sales and heavy crowding at retail outlets. However, it is informed that there are adequate stocks of petrol and diesel available at all petrol pumps in the country," the release said.  End
