--US Trump:Pausing energy plant destruction till Apr 6 as per Iran's request
MUMBAI – US President Donald Trump has again extended the deadline for strikes on Iran's energy sites to Apr. 6, as per his post on his social media site Truth Social early Friday. Trump said the Iranian government had asked for the extension and that talks between the two countries were underway. On Monday, Trump had deferred his threat to strike Iran's power grid by five days to Friday.
"As per Iranian Government request, please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 P.M., Eastern Time. Talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media, and others, they are going very well," the post said. After the announcement, Trump told American news channel Fox News that Iran had asked for a seven-day extension but he "gave them a 10-day period."
Trump had issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Iran over the weekend to open the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow passage that accounts for the transit of about a fifth of global oil supply. He had threatened to attack Iran's power plants if Tehran refused to comply. Trump's fresh extension comes as the Israeli-American war against Iran is set to enter its fifth week, and after Iran reportedly dismissed the US' plan to end the war. End
