Cabinet OKs continuation of immigration, visa tracking scheme for 5 years

NEW DELHI – The Union Cabinet Wednesday approved continuation of the immigration and visa tracking scheme for five years till Mar. 31, 2031. The outlay for extension of the Immigration, Visa, Foreigners Registration and Tracking Scheme is INR 18 billion, a government release said.
"The IVFRT (Immigration, Visa, Foreigners Registration and Tracking) platform seeks to interlink and optimise functions related to immigration, visa issuance and registration of foreigners in India," the release said. "The core objective of the IVFRT is to modernise and upgrade immigration and visa services within a secure and integrated service delivery framework."
This scheme was approved by the Cabinet in May 2010 till September 2014 with a budget outlay of INR 10.11 billion. The implementation timeline for the project was extended first till Mar. 31, 2017 and then up to Mar. 31, 2021.
The project was again extended for five years till Mar. 31, 2026 with a budget outlay of INR 13.65 billion. End
